Things to know about caring for your pup!

A Day in a Dog’s Life:

Dogs offer a myriad of benefits to our mental health:

  1. Companionship: Dogs provide unconditional love and companionship, which can alleviate loneliness and isolation.
  2. Stress Reduction: Interacting with dogs has been shown to reduce levels of stress hormones like cortisol and increase levels of oxytocin, a hormone associated with bonding and relaxation.
  3. Physical Activity: Owning a dog often entails regular walks and exercise, which can boost mood and reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression.
  4. Routine and Structure: Dogs thrive on routine, and caring for them can provide structure to our lives, giving us a sense of purpose and responsibility.
  5. Social Connection: Dogs are social magnets, often sparking conversations and interactions with other dog owners, which can help combat feelings of social anxiety and improve social skills.
  6. Mindfulness and Present Moment Awareness: Spending time with a dog encourages mindfulness and being present in the moment, as they live in the now and enjoy simple pleasures.
  7. Emotional Support: Dogs have an innate ability to sense their owners’ emotions and offer comfort and support during difficult times.
  8. Reduced Feelings of Depression: Studies have shown that dog ownership is associated with lower rates of depression and may even help mitigate symptoms in those already diagnosed with depression.

Overall, the bond between humans and dogs is incredibly powerful and mutually beneficial, contributing to improved mental well-being for both parties involved.

Never leave your puppy unsupervised. Pups will find small items to pick up and chew. They will get into mischief. These small creatures need guidance and patience just like humans.

To ease the transition, have the TIME to spend with your new pup. If you do this right away you will be THANKFUL in the future.

Reward good behavior. This might include going to the bathroom and sitting on command. I use Health Extension Freeze-Dried Raw (Beef Recipe) treats as a reward. Bentley loves it and these treats have served as an excellent reward when training.

As much as they want to play, Golden Doodles need rest. 30-45 minutes of playtime equals 2-3 hours of rest. I use a crate to train my puppy. A crate maintains safety and a sense of security for Sir Bentley.
